Where the Blue Fern Grows: A Guide to Lake City, Seattle

Modern townhomes from Blue Fern are coming to another quintessential Seattle neighborhood. We returned to Shoreline with our projects at Cromwell Crossing, Meridian East, and West, but coming in the Spring of 2021, Blue Fern will be growing in Lake City’s Olympic Hills neighborhood with Kenwood Townhomes.

If you’re looking for a new, modern townhome with all the luxury amenities you’ve come to expect in another up-and-coming neighborhood, look no further than Kenwood Townhomes. If you’re not familiar with Lake City, you’ve come to the right place. Check out the features and fun you can experience in Lake City, Seattle.

Eat and Drink Local

Lake City has a storied history with Prohibition. Being on the outskirts of King County, it’s roads were scarcely patrolled by authorities, making it a good place for Seattleites to grab a drink they couldn’t get downtown. Almost 100 years later, there’s a variety of enticing places to eat and drink locally.

Beer Authority and Elliot Bay Brewing offer a variety of delicious local and regional brews as well as a wonderful atmosphere to meet with friends and family.

A Seattle community wouldn’t be complete without a strong local coffee scene. Kaffeeklatsch offers German-inspired breakfast bakes, and Kelly Cannoli features famous overstuffed cannolis alongside an espresso.

Lake City also offers its share of amazing cuisine from beyond our borders. Aloha Ramen brings a Hawaiian twist to their Japanese menu. But if sushi is more your style, look no further than Toyoda Sushi

Getting Around

Lake City may be on the outskirts of Seattle proper, but the 552 bus offers just a 20-minute commute to downtown Seattle, running every 30 minutes. Traveling by car, downtown is just 15 minutes away via I-5. Kenwood Townhomes is a quick one-minute walk to the 552 bus line, making it a great option for commuters.

Arts and Culture

The great outdoors are never far away. Lake City is home to a number of parks for people and pets (see Dogwood Play Park). Take a walk or bike down the 27-mile Burke-Gllman Trail that stretches from 11th Avenue NW in Ballard all the way to Blyth Park in Bothell where the trail becomes the Sammamish River Trail.

Lake City is home to a local seasonal farmer’s market, a library that traces its history back to the beginning of the town’s incorporation in 1935 and a community center that plays host to everyday activities like dance classes and senior meals. Residents and visitors alike also enjoy large, annual events like the Chinese New Year Celebration and Lion Dance.

New Townhomes for a New Community

As Lake City Grows, so does its need for quality, environmentally-friendly homes. Kenwood Townhomes features a variety of floor plans to choose from, spanning 1,350 to 1,800 square feet. Getting around is made easier by units with a garage. Homeowners will enjoy views of Lake Washington from their rooftop deck and lavish front porches.

As with every Blue Fern Home, quality isn’t something you can see in a brochure—it’s something you can feel when you tour one of our homes. Each home we build is 4-Star BuiltGreen certified, expertly designed and helps give back to the community through a donation to the FoodLifeline

All of this is just minutes away from everything Lake City has to offer. Join the Blue List to keep up with the newest developments from Blue Fern Homes. Kenwood Townhomes will be available in Spring of 2021—reserve your spot today. If you’re looking to move into a new home before the year is up, we have a limited number of homes available for sale at Cromwell Crossing in Shoreline and Holly Townhomes in Hillman City.
